Hollywood is tapping into Arc Raiders and The Finals for its next major video game adaptations, with both franchises set to be developed into films and TV shows.
According to Variety, Nexon, the parent company of developer Embark Studios, will partner with production company Chernin Entertainment to create adaptations of Arc Raiders and The Finals. Currently, the teams are exploring all possibilities, including both TV shows and films, to expand the game worlds that 'reward the passion' of players, as stated by Nexon.
"ARC Raiders and The Finals are exactly the kind of opportunities we've been building towards at Chernin Entertainment: ambitious global IP with the potential to become major franchises across film and television," said David Ready, president of film at Chernin Entertainment. "Nexon and Embark have created visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell. We're honored they've trusted us to unite our film and television teams to tell those stories."
Embark Studios has said it will work directly with Chernin Entertainment on these adaptations, ensuring the worlds and lore that fans have cherished over the years are respected. As of now, there are no release dates or specifics for these projects, so they are likely still years away from coming to fruition.
Arc Raiders was one of the biggest games of 2025, but it has lost some momentum in recent months due to a lack of consistent updates with substantial content. Later this month, Embark plans to test a PvE mode in the game, allowing players to enjoy a more cooperative experience without the threat of being shot by other players. The studio emphasized that there's no guarantee this mode will become permanent, but it is exploring the option following player demand.
