Capcom has announced it will remove Dragon's Dogma 2 microtransactions from sale ahead of the upcoming Dark Arisen expansion. The company will discontinue the Deluxe Edition and certain DLC items on June 24, alongside a permanent price drop for the digital version of the base game. In a social media post, Capcom listed the items being pulled, including the character editor and warp location marker. Dragon's Dogma 2 faced criticism at its 2024 launch for having over 21 microtransactions, priced between $0.99 and $4.99, such as an Explorer's Camping Kit ($2.99), a single-use gaol key ($0.99), a Portcrystal warp marker ($2.99), and Wakestones ($0.99) that revive the dead. Although these items were easily obtainable through gameplay, they sparked controversy for making challenging parts of the game easier or less frustrating. Modders responded by making these items available in unlimited quantities. Capcom has already released a major title update for Dragon's Dogma 2 and plans another at the end of August to improve frame-rate, add save slots, and enhance quality of life. Dark Arisen launches on October 9, 2026.
