Warner Bros. Games has revealed a shift in the release schedule for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and it's a welcome change—the game is now launching a week earlier than initially planned. Players can look forward to its arrival on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on May 22, instead of the previously announced May 29. Additionally, a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is still in the works and will be released at a later date.
The announcement was made today through a new trailer, which Warner Bros. Games shared with the caption: "You signaled. He answered." This update follows the initial release date reveal by developer TT Games at The Game Awards last year, where it was positioned to fill the spring slot originally intended for Grand Theft Auto 6.
In a recent interview with IGN, Jonathan Smith, Head of Production and Strategic Director at TT Games, discussed the timing. He noted, "We aimed for a spring release this year, and with GTA 6 delayed to the holiday season, we're excited to have this space for players to enjoy LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. We're offering an expansive open city and a top-notch experience for everyone, which I highly recommend."
The game features a vast open-world Gotham City, allowing players to explore as Batman or a select group of iconic characters, including Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Talia Al Ghul, and Catwoman. This marks the first major licensed LEGO game in several years, following TT Games' 2022 release, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
IGN, after getting hands-on with the game last year, praised it, stating, "LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight delivers the Arkham-style experience fans have been anticipating."
