Techland has canceled the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Dying Light: The Beast, citing "the technical realities of development" as the reason. The first-person zombie-slaying game launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S last year, earning a 7/10 from IGN, which called it "a goofy, bloody sequel with a monstrous twist, but doesn’t do much else to mix things up." While Techland had initially planned to release the game on last-gen consoles, the compromises required proved too significant. In a statement, the developer announced refunds for pre-orders, noting that both the PS4 and Xbox One are now 13 years old. In March, Techland revealed a new edition called Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land, which includes the full game, all post-launch content, and new Restored Land content. As for the franchise's future, Techland remains tight-lipped, though the Polish studio is known to be working on a fantasy game.
