Gamescom's Opening Night Live treated fans to a fresh trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, showcasing thrilling new gameplay and story elements. The trailer opens with Rufus Shinra delivering a public service announcement on the Shinra News Network, addressing the looming Meteor and the Weapons, and reassuring citizens that humanity will "reign supreme" over these threats.

We witness one of the Weapons wreaking havoc on Shinra soldiers, alongside special glimpses of the Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and the Ultima Weapon. Gameplay footage reveals Tifa donning the Black Mage class outfit, and a prerendered cutscene shows the Highwind facing off against a Weapon. The trailer also gives us a look inside the submarine with the Huge Materia at its center, plus an underwater combat section where the party navigates the ocean while dodging attacks.

Additional footage includes the team parachuting from the Highwind and riding chocobos across the world, as well as Yuffie exploring what appears to be Wutai. This hype-packed trailer has fans more excited than ever.

The dialogue focuses heavily on the Weapons, with Vincent Valentine explaining in a voiceover, "The Planet sees us as another threat to her well-being, and rightfully so." Cid adds, "You call 'em planetary warriors, but I call 'em weapons of mass destruction!"

It's still unclear whether these Weapons will be regular bosses or super bosses, as in the original game. No specific release date was announced, but the game is still slated for Spring 2027, launching simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC).

This is the latest look at FFVII Revelation following the trailers shown at Summer Game Fest earlier this year, where the Highwind was reintroduced. With the airship, Cloud and company can traverse the planet, parachuting down to explore at will.

The FITS system was also introduced, allowing characters to change their playstyle based on Final Fantasy jobs. And yes, you'll get to play as the gunslinging Vincent Valentine and even transform into the Galian Beast.

Not much else has been revealed yet, but director Naoki Hamaguchi has publicly stated his desire to integrate many of the Final Fantasy VII spin-off properties into the game's ultimate ending.
