Grand Theft Auto players have rallied behind a sick fan in need of a lung transplant by raising more than $50,000 so he can live long enough to play GTA 6.
Meet Jerry, a 25-year-old who has uploaded music and gaming content on TikTok with the username Void Only since 2022. A self-proclaimed Kingdom Hearts "fanatic," he's spent the last four years talking about Warframe, Marvel's Spider-Man, Hitman, and, of course, GTA 6, and now, he's fighting for his life.
A few days ago, he uploaded a video. Plastered on the screen is text that says "I just want to play GTA VI," with the TikTok description adding, "Rockstar and their delays man…"
Rockstar and their delays man…
"Well, this day was inevitable," Jerry said through the sound of his oxygen tube. "I'm at the end of my ropes. My lungs can't do it no more. So, I'm going to be in the ICU until I get a lung transplant, but my situation is so strange, you know?
"My lungs are attached to the chest wall, so doing surgery means ripping apart my lungs from my chest wall – physically ripping them – then pulling them out, then replacing them with new lungs. It's going to be very bloody, very dangerous. It's a very unique case. They believe I will make it out the other side – I have hope I will – but I'm a very spiritual individual, so even if I don't, where I go will be great."
Jerry has battled interstitial lung disease since he was 17. His parent, Paris Fort, told his story with a recently established GoFundMe page, saying he has "always pushed through pain to show up for the people he loves." Jerry's disease has now progressed to the point that he needs a lung transplant "for a chance at healing and a future."
After his initial update video amassed millions of views and 1.9 million likes, the love poured in. "You're gonna get that transplant just in the nick of time, I believe in you," one comment said. "You're gonna be able to see GTA 7 bro you can make it!" another added. "WHEN you make it," someone else said, "WE are buying YOU GTA 6. We got you twin."
The fundraising goal, as detailed by Jerry in a follow-up video, was to reach $15,000 to help he and his family get through the year. At the time of this article's publication, his GoFundMe page had reached $53,151 (via Dexerto).
The extra cash won't just take care of the financial burden brought on by an operation as delicate as a lung transplant; it will help cushion the blow of what could be a lengthy recovery period. With so much left uncertain, Jerry's post-op recovery timeline remains a mystery. But he's holding out hope.
Thank all of you. Any amount is valid your beautiful beings
"I would like to thank all of you for being patient, number one," a teary-eyed Jerry said in a new video uploaded during the weekend. "Number two, I did not expect that much love. It's so many people, so many messages, so many… so many good-hearted people."
He went on, saying, "Side note: We make it out on the other side of this thing, I will be streaming GTA 6 whenever that drops.
"I will be streaming that. That's going to be our goal as a community."
After a few delays, GTA 6 seems locked in with its November 19, 2026, release date. We'll learn much, much more about it when its Extended Look presentation comes to Netflix later this month. As Jerry's GoFundMe continues to climb, it looks like it won't be long before it passes yet another milestone when it hits $55k.
