Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be a massive time investment, as the game's producer has revealed it took him around 80 hours to finish. In an interview with The New York Times, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson shared that he spent roughly 80 hours completing the game in February. This playthrough included the main story and some "optional goals with narrative ramifications," though it's unclear if it also covered open-world exploration or other side activities. Regardless, that's a substantial length. Nelson hopes players will take their time and savor the experience rather than rushing through it.

For context, GTA 4 and GTA 5 typically take around 30 hours to complete, while Red Dead Redemption 2 clocks in at 50-60 hours. This means GTA 6 will be Rockstar's longest game to date, which should be reassuring for fans who've been eagerly awaiting its release. If the 80 hours doesn't even include 100% completion, there will be plenty of additional content to extend your playtime even further.

GTA 6 is packed with open-world activities like basketball, fishing, exercising, and much more. Expect a wealth of side missions to dive into as well, ensuring players will be hooked for a long time. Red Dead Redemption 2 kept players engaged with its incredible depth and detail, featuring unique NPCs, hidden secrets, and extensive side content, and GTA 6 seems poised to follow suit.

If you're hungry for more GTA 6 details, IGN has comprehensive coverage, including an exclusive preview, an interview with Rob Nelson, and various breakdowns of new gameplay mechanics, music, and other features.
