Focus Entertainment has announced a significant publishing agreement with independent racing studio Maverick Games for their upcoming title, Clutch. The partnership marks Focus Entertainment's debut in the open-world racing genre, strengthening their portfolio with this exciting new addition.
In a statement, Focus deputy CEO Vincent Chataignier expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: "At Focus, we seek to partner with creators who are redefining their genre. Mike Brown and his team are considered one of the defining creative voices in racing, and Clutch embodies exactly the creative ambition Focus Entertainment wants to champion."
Clutch is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in early to mid-2027.
For those unfamiliar with Clutch, it's a visually stunning racing and driving game that blends circuit racing, street racing, and high-octane, Fast & Furious-style action and heists. Set in an open world inspired by the Mediterranean coastline of the French Riviera, the game features a map encompassing Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez. With a strong emphasis on customization, Clutch also offers a variety of crazy car gadgets for its action-packed missions, including a grappling hook that can slingshot your car around tight corners.
Founded in 2022 by veterans of Forza Horizon developer Playground Games, Maverick Games initially partnered with Amazon to publish Clutch. However, Amazon withdrew from the project earlier this year, citing a "strategic evolution."
