Bloodborne running at 120 FPS and super high resolution on PS5 is now a reality, thanks to the work of a modder rather than an official update or remaster from Sony. Digital Foundry has confirmed that a modder named Christina created a series of patches to unlock better performance for PS4 games on PS5, and they tested them on FromSoftware's masterpiece. According to Digital Foundry, Bloodborne runs at a "properly paced" 33.3ms frames in 4K resolution using the mods on PS5, with even the game's fonts rendering at native 4K. Pushing further, they demonstrated the game running locked at 60 FPS at 2560x1440 resolution and even at 120Hz. This appears possible for virtually any PS4 game. Digital Foundry noted that while modding on PS5 is niche and not for the average player, it underscores that Bloodborne could have benefited from an update or remaster years ago. Even as the PS5 approaches its sixth birthday, a Bloodborne update would likely boost sales. Despite technical hurdles, Digital Foundry insists Sony could unlock this potential for PS4 games on PS5, citing Batman Arkham Knight as another title that would benefit. Meanwhile, rumors persist about a Bloodborne remake: Bluepoint, the studio behind the Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls remakes, reportedly pitched a remake last year that was rejected by FromSoftware, not Sony. FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said it's "not in my place" to discuss a remake since the company doesn't own the IP. PlayStation's Shuhei Yoshida theorized that Miyazaki is too busy and doesn't want anyone else to touch it, and PlayStation respects his wish.
