It feels like the entire world is eagerly awaiting the chance to dive into GTA 6. And Rockstar is fully aware of the massive expectations.

Ahead of the extended gameplay reveal that just dropped on Netflix, IGN visited the studio to chat with Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North. When we brought up how every new Grand Theft Auto release becomes a global cultural phenomenon, he chuckled and said, "No pressure."

"I try not to dwell on it," Nelson continued. "You're conscious of it, sure. But I believe we just need to focus on crafting something that innovates on our past work, evolves it, while still keeping that familiar feel."

Rockstar knows that every tiny detail revealed about GTA 6 is scrutinized under a magnifying glass, and this latest extended look is no exception. It gives us the most comprehensive glimpse yet into the world, characters, and gameplay of this return to Vice City. That means every frame has to be flawless, with each detail destined to be dissected in listicles uncovering new secrets about the game—something we'll definitely be doing ourselves.

"It's a tough challenge," Nelson explained. "As much external pressure as we feel, I don't think it matches the pressure we put on ourselves as a team. Everyone wants perfection. We're nervous! Nervous, but also thrilled to see how people react to this video and eventually the game itself. It's a definite leap forward for us in every aspect—the scale of the world, and how immersive it feels. It's a bit overwhelming when you step in and see the traffic density, the population, and how realistically they respond to you."

While we don't yet know how many players have pre-ordered GTA 6 ahead of its November 19 launch, we do know that most have chosen the pricier $100 ultimate edition over the standard one. Take-Two's boss has called that price a "bargain," citing that "Rockstar Games is known for over-delivering." It's easy to see why Nelson and his team might be feeling the weight of those expectations.
