Capcom has announced that its brand-new sci-fi action-adventure game Pragmata has sold over 1 million copies worldwide in just two days following its release.
The Japanese publisher emphasized that Pragmata represents a completely new intellectual property, developed primarily by a younger team within Capcom. The game blends action gameplay with puzzle elements in a distinctive world dominated by artificial intelligence.
"As a completely new IP, Pragmata was created from the ground up with an original world and gameplay concept," Capcom stated. "Without an established fan base or brand recognition, we implemented various marketing initiatives, including an early playable demo, to showcase the game's unique features. We also expanded platform availability by adding Nintendo Switch 2 support early on. These efforts generated significant momentum, allowing Pragmata to achieve this milestone despite being a new IP."
The game follows Hugh, a member of a doomed investigation team, and Diana, a young android, as they navigate a lunar facility controlled by rogue AI while searching for a way back to Earth.
The development team added: "We're thrilled that so many players worldwide have enjoyed Pragmata, helping us reach this 1 million sales milestone. We'll continue working to bring the appeal of Pragmata to an even broader audience."
This strong start suggests Pragmata could become a new franchise for Capcom.
IGN's review scored Pragmata 8/10, praising its "punchy shooting action and creative hacking-puzzle gameplay mechanic" while noting that "the story may seem like an afterthought, but its sci-fi drama provides enough motivation to see it through."
