CD Projekt has unveiled the details of Cyberpunk 2077's 2.5 update, which coincides with the launch of the Netflix anime Edgerunners 2. The Edgerunners-themed content includes a new side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of Edgerunners 2 (which CD Projekt recently confirmed takes place in 2078, just one year after the game). Completing this quest rewards a new 5-piece gear set inspired by King from Season 2. Additionally, a new radio station featuring tracks from the Edgerunners series is being added.
But 2.5 brings plenty more beyond Edgerunners, including additional side quests. The Welcome to Paradise! side quest takes players on a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night, as they unravel a mystery. Another new side quest extends Fool on the Hill and introduces new tarot cards.
Update 2.5 also lets players customize their hand cyberware, giving Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, or Projectile Launch System implants a fresh look. Each Glamdoc is found in a unique shop, complete with its own intro scene featuring voiceover and animations, and offers a distinct catalog of cyberware skins with customizable colors.
Perhaps the most significant addition is the new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, which allows dual-wielding Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category for the first time. The hope is that this perk enables an entirely new playstyle, and fans will surely enjoy experimenting with it.
Other features include cross-platform mod support on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X and S, along with various quality-of-life improvements such as saves in the Load Game menu grouped by separate playthroughs and, finally, an FOV slider on consoles.
On the technical side, there's support for DLSS 4.5, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, the 2nd Generation Transformer Model, and various performance enhancements.
Overall, 2.5 is a welcome surprise for Cyberpunk 2077, especially after CD Projekt had indicated no plans for further DLC for the hugely successful game. Of course, The Witcher 3 is getting a new expansion 12 years after launch, so perhaps CD Projekt will return later with a new expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. For now, though, 2.5 is sure to bring lapsed players back to Night City and give Edgerunners fans a reason to jump in if they haven't already.
