Pokémon Unlikely for Fortnite, Palworld Crossover Seems More Probable

Steam hit Palworld appears poised for a future crossover with Fortnite, while Pokémon seems increasingly unlikely. In January, Pocketpair's head of publishing, John "Bucky" Buckley, openly suggested a Fortnite crossover on social media, hoping to grab Epic Games' attention. "If you ever want to put Palworld in Fortnite just reach out hehe 😇," he wrote, and it seems Epic may have taken notice.

This week, Epic added Palworld to Fortnite's in-game survey, which gauges player interest in potential crossovers. Within 24 hours, Buckley tweeted a cryptic question: "Theoretically, hypothetically, conceptually, and spiritually…if, with absolutely no promise of it being realized or coming to fruition ever, but if…capital I and capital F…IF…any of the new Pals in 1.0 were to get a skin, which would it be and what would the skin be?"

Fortnite has collaborated with numerous franchises like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, God of War, and Halo. Rumors suggest the next season will be fully gaming crossover-themed, featuring Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, and Persona. Palworld could join too, especially since Fortnite's current season includes creature-collecting Sprites, boosting player numbers. Epic also plans to highlight player-made games with pet-like Sidekicks, which could integrate Pals.

Notably, Fortnite has explored collaborations with Nintendo but failed to secure Pokémon. Nintendo reportedly refused due to concerns about its characters on rival consoles. This leaves the door open for Palworld, despite its controversial resemblance to Pokémon. Pocketpair recently modified Pal designs to distance them from Pokémon, yet a new whale Pal drew comparisons. Meanwhile, The Pokémon Company's ongoing patent lawsuit against Pocketpair may influence future plans.
