The Witcher 3 Remastered Reportedly Broken on AMD GPUs Ahead of New Driver Release

The Witcher 3 Remastered launched earlier today, and while it appears to run smoothly on Nvidia graphics cards, AMD users are reporting a slew of bugs and visual glitches.

According to a post on the /r/Radeon subreddit, some of the issues include missing trees and black artifacts appearing throughout the game. Another Reddit post shows foliage in White Orchard looking like it was put through a negative filter. Over on Twitter, user NikTek shared a clip outside Novigrad with similar graphical glitches, and when he enters the river, the water's surface starts blinking like a strobe light.

The common thread among all these issues is AMD Radeon graphics cards. CD Projekt Red seems to be aware of the problems and has posted on X/Twitter recommending players upgrade their graphics driver to a supported version. However, the supported Radeon driver, Adrenalin 26.9.2, has not yet been released. The most recent Radeon driver, Adrenalin 26.8.1, was released on August 20.

For anyone trying to play The Witcher 3 Remastered on an AMD graphics card right now, the best course of action is to wait for AMD to release its new driver. It's unclear why CD Projekt Red released the game without ensuring it works on existing AMD drivers, but it's possible that the Radeon driver was delayed. I've reached out to both AMD and CD Projekt Red for comment and will update this story if I hear back.

Regardless of these temporary glitches on AMD hardware, the remastered version of The Witcher 3 comes with a host of gameplay and graphics improvements that truly bring the game into the current generation. Just keep in mind that if you want to max out the game with path tracing, you'll need an incredibly powerful gaming PC.
