Sony's first-party studio Media Molecule, known for LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, is reportedly developing a new game with open-world features. According to MP1st, information from a current employee's resume reveals that the studio is working on an unannounced project that will include 'open-world content.' While fans have been hoping for a return to LittleBigPlanet, the resume indicates this is a new IP, not another Sackboy adventure. That doesn't rule out a future LittleBigPlanet game, but it seems unlikely to arrive soon. The resume also suggests a larger scale for the project, a departure from Media Molecule's previous focus on player-created experiences. Dreams, which IGN rated 9/10, allowed players to build full games with unique mechanics and art styles, but support ended three years after its 2020 release. Sumo Digital, which developed LittleBigPlanet 3 and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, could potentially continue the series, though Sackboy's removal from PlayStation Productions branding has raised concerns. Past statements from Media Molecule hint that this new project may have been in development since 2023. Given the studio's history, it may not be the kind of AAA game that takes years and massive budgets to produce, so we could hear about it at the upcoming State of Play in June. For now, it's clear that whatever Media Molecule is working on will be different from its past titles.
