Fans of the Fallout series are eagerly awaiting any updates on Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG franchise, and a recent tease from an unexpected source has sent hopes soaring. Iron Galaxy Studios, known for their work on Xbox's Killer Instinct, shared a social media and LinkedIn post that strongly suggests involvement in a Fallout-related project.

The post reads, "Today’s our February company meeting. It’s time to catch up with what the company’s been up to and what’s coming up next for IG," accompanied by an image showing Fallout's iconic "Please Stand By" holding screen on a monitor and in a slideshow presentation. Notably, the image matches the loading screen from Fallout: New Vegas, fueling rumors that Iron Galaxy might be developing the long-rumored remaster of that game.

Both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are reportedly slated for remastered versions. The Fallout 3 remaster was mentioned in FTC documents during Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, though it hasn't been officially announced. According to The Verge, Bethesda is focused on ensuring the game is polished for a successful launch, similar to last year's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which Bethesda's Todd Howard praised in an interview with IGN.

The Fallout: New Vegas remaster is also said to be in development, possibly further along in the pipeline. Could Iron Galaxy be handling both projects? The studio has a history with the Fallout franchise, having contributed to Fallout 4 VR and Fallout 76, as well as other Bethesda titles like The Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim on Switch, and Skyrim VR. This experience makes them a plausible candidate for the remaster work.

While the tease might hint at something else, it's clear Iron Galaxy is involved with Fallout in some capacity. Given the intense fan interest, posting such an image without a genuine connection to the series would be misleading.

In a recent IGN interview, Todd Howard was asked if the success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered—which attracted over 4 million players after its surprise release—could be replicated with a Fallout 3 remaster. Howard remained coy, emphasizing his satisfaction with the Oblivion remaster's reception and his preference for surprise game announcements.

The last main single-player Fallout game was Fallout 4 in 2015, which recently received an Anniversary Edition. Fallout 76 followed in 2018, gaining more traction after the premiere of Prime Video's Fallout TV show, which boosted the series' popularity.

Beyond remasters, Bethesda plans to eventually release Fallout 5, though it will come after The Elder Scrolls 6. In June 2024, Howard stated he wasn't rushing Fallout 5, and in December, he confirmed to BBC Newsbeat that the game would incorporate canon events from the Fallout TV series, ensuring continuity with the show's storyline.
