Benjamin Burnley, frontman and guitarist of the rock band Breaking Benjamin, took a five-minute break during a concert in Holmdel, New Jersey, to air his grievances about a feud with a fellow Fallout 4 modder.
If you didn’t know Burnley was a gaming enthusiast, now you do. During the Sunday, September 6 show, he revealed he’s an “amateur modder” for Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Recently, he’s been at odds with another modder over a mod he created for Fallout 4 that lets players experience the game entirely in first-person. Burnley believes it’s a solid mod, but his rival doesn’t share that vision.
A fan captured the rant on video and posted it to Reddit under the username ‘im_all_ears.’
“I just made a mod that ensures you stay in first-person when you’re in first-person. You see your body in first-person. You go to your workshop in first-person, and third-person still works. So, I want you to go and download that f**kin’ mod,” Burnley began.
“More importantly, I wanna tell you why I’m doing this. There was a modder—so, there’s like a clique—there was a modder in the community who was really mean to me and bullying me, saying, ‘Oh, your mod is sh*t, you don’t know what you’re fkin’ doing.’ So I’m doing this every fkin’ night, and blowing his fkin’ downloads out of the water. Please help me destroy this fkin’ jerk. I’m not even gonna say his name, but he’s a dk, and fk him.”
The venue’s big screen even displayed the mod’s name and Burnley’s Nexus Mods username: “True First Person Mod by killemloud.”
“Even if you don’t play that game, go download it. It’s on Nexus Mods,” he urged. “And tomorrow, I better see all those downloads going up. …This is for people who love mods. I’m uploading the update for it. You know, when you post a mod, you’re supposed to be able to grow and learn, and make it better. And right off the bat, this fkin’ ahole was s**tin’ on my mod, and he ain’t lettin’ me update it. So that’s what happened.”
While many gamers in the crowd enjoyed the humorous feud, a few vocal fans yelled for Burnley to “play some music” instead of ranting about Update 1.2 for his first-person mod. The entire spiel lasted nearly five minutes and has since gone viral on social media for obvious reasons.
“No way Ben makes Fallout 4 mods, that’s insane lol,” one Reddit user wrote.
“Benjamin Burnley makes gaming mods?! The f**k? That’s awesome!” another commented.
Breaking Benjamin was famously featured in Halo 2, but there are plenty of celebrity gamers. Recently, Obsession star Inde Navarrette went viral for her Twitch channel, where she streamed Call of Duty games and story-driven titles like The Last of Us. Samara Weaving, recently cast as Emma Frost in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, has also been praised for being such a dedicated gamer that she brings her PlayStation 5 on location while filming.
