Full Circle, the studio behind the Skate franchise, has confirmed layoffs impacting an unspecified number of employees as part of efforts to 'better support' the 'long-term future' of its free-to-play title. Publisher Electronic Arts (EA) outlined these 'reshaping' plans in a blog post on the studio's website, though details regarding the number of affected staff or their specific roles were not disclosed. The post explained that 'making changes to our team structure' means 'some roles will be impacted.'
In the announcement, Full Circle expressed gratitude to the affected team members, stating, 'The teammates affected are talented colleagues and friends who helped build the foundation of skate. Their creativity and dedication are deeply ingrained in what players experience today. This decision is not a reflection of their impact and we're committed to supporting them through this transition.' The post also highlighted that tens of millions of players have engaged with the free-to-play Skate reboot since its Early Access launch in September 2025 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
EA and Full Circle emphasized that the restructuring is intended to 'better support skate.'s long-term future and focus the team on the things that matter most to you.' They assured fans of ongoing collaboration with the community to 'move faster, listen more closely, and deliver consistently' as development progresses. The message concluded with a tribute: 'To our departing teammates: thank you. skate. exists because of your hard work and dedication to the craft.'
This move at Full Circle is part of a broader trend of layoffs and project cancellations at EA. Earlier in 2024, the company cut approximately 670 jobs, followed by an additional 300 layoffs in April 2025, which included the cancellation of a Titanfall universe project at Respawn Entertainment. Subsequent months saw EA end remote hiring, mandate office returns, and close Cliffhanger Games, the studio behind the canceled Black Panther game. In September 2025, EA announced it had accepted a $55 billion acquisition offer from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, and Silver Lake.
Despite the layoffs, Full Circle will continue developing Skate, with plans to launch Season 3 soon, as detailed in a recent post. The roadmap promises additional features, cosmetics, game modes, and more. When IGN contacted EA for further comment on the restructuring, they referred back to the studio's original statement.
