It's completely free for existing owners, and if you don't have the DLCs, you'll get those for free too. However, if you haven't bought the game yet, you'll now have to pay a bit more.

The price of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition on Steam has jumped from $39.99 to $49.99 since the remaster was announced. This will be the price of the remaster itself, so those who buy the current version are essentially pre-paying for the new one, as their copy will be automatically upgraded. It's not a huge increase, but it might be disappointing for those who've been waiting for the right time to buy The Witcher 3, especially since the game is 11 years old.

That said, The Witcher 3 is arguably worth the price. With all its DLCs and side quests, it offers hundreds of hours of gameplay and has high replay value. It's one of the best RPGs of all time, and there's a new DLC coming next year, ahead of The Witcher 4's expected release in 2028. CD Projekt Red also frequently offers deep discounts on The Witcher 3 (I got the Complete Edition for $4 on Steam last Christmas).
