Microsoft has unveiled the first wave of Xbox Game Pass titles for September 2026, and it's headlined by a Call of Duty blockbuster. Available today across all major Game Pass tiers, Shelldiver is an incremental game about a senior turtle venturing into the jellyfish-selling business. It sounds quirky, but its Steam reviews are surprisingly positive, so it might be worth a try. Later this week, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed joins the service, delivering another dose of competitive co-op platforming. Premium members will also get access to Dice a Million, the roguelike deck builder that's already on other tiers. The biggest addition, though, is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the 2020 installment developed by Raven Software. We scored its single-player campaign 7/10 in our review, though its multiplayer modes were a bit weaker. There have been better CODs, but also worse ones. Later this month, The Royal Writ arrives, another roguelike deck builder with a medieval twist. Then there's Virtua Fighter 5, or Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, to give its full title. "The World Stage" refers to its single-player "journey," but the bone-crunching multiplayer remains the highlight. Last but not least, the previously confirmed RuneScape: Dragonwilds joins the lineup, marking the first standalone title in Jagex's long-running medieval MMORPG franchise. Dragonwilds has already sold over 1 million copies in early access, so its open-world co-op crafting and survival gameplay is clearly resonating with players. The full list is below. As always, when Microsoft gives, it also takes away. Several games are leaving Game Pass this month, including the charming Spiritfarer. Make sure to play it before it goes, along with the other titles listed below.
