In one of the most bonkers collaborations in gaming history, Yujiro Hanma is coming to Tekken 8 early next year. His reveal at Combo Breaker 2026 set off an avalanche of memes and speculation, leaving fans equal parts hopeful and terrified that he’ll be just as strong in the game as he is in the Baki manga.
We got the chance to speak with Tekken series chief producer, Naoya Yasuda, who answered our burning questions about 'The Ogre' and how the developers will adapt the famously overpowered fighter to fit within Tekken 8’s framework. We also asked what inspired this collaboration in the first place, and if Yasuda had seen the memes about Yujiro’s inclusion in the game. (Spoiler alert: Yes, he has, and he loves them.)
We also chatted with Yuki Yokoi, director of promotions and a previous editor for the Baki manga, who spoke about the significance of Yujiro being a guest character in Tekken 8, Baki’s 35th anniversary, and his thoughts about fans’ reactions to this unexpected but welcome partnership between one of the most celebrated martial arts manga of all time and one of the most significant 3D fighting game franchises ever created.
