Eagle-Eyed Fans Spot Red Dead Redemption 2 Hidden in GTA 6's Latest Trailer

Did you catch a glimpse of Red Dead Redemption 2's world in last night's Grand Theft Auto 6 Extended Look? Rockstar's cowboy epic made a brief cameo — and, as expected, sharp-eyed GTA 6 fans immediately recognized it.

During a TV commercial for what appears to be the most unhealthy burger ever conceived, a scenic outdoor backdrop features prominently. A winding river flows through lush greenery, flanked by distinctive rock formations. The scene is populated with various animals — which will presumably soon become part of that 30,000-calorie burger.

But what excited Rockstar fans even more was the realization that this footage was clearly taken from Red Dead Redemption 2. Players quickly flocked to pinpoint the exact location. While the scene normally lacks such a menagerie of animals, and Rockstar seems to have adjusted the lighting, the river, trees, and most of the rocks match perfectly. It's a delightful Easter egg for fans of the developer's previous title, who are now eagerly anticipating the next one.

If you want to see it for yourself, Reddit user DangerousLeo, who managed to locate the spot, has highlighted a U-bend in the Kamassa River, northwest of Annesburg, just west of Deer Cottage. How did DangerousLeo find it so quickly? Well, they admit to having logged over 730 hours in Red Dead Redemption 2 to date.

So, does this confirm a Red Dead Redemption 2 4K remaster? Not quite. It's more likely that Rockstar tweaked a version of their previous game specifically for this in-game commercial, using the pre-existing location as a convenient stand-in for GTA 6's ever-evolving open world.
