About
Radio Free Europa is a fusion of a classic arcade game and an action roguelike. The action is relentless. The soundtrack gets your blood pumping. The enemies are brutal and the bosses are massive but that just makes eventual victory feel so much sweeter!
The visuals are crisp, bright and vivid and modern but the game itself is a throwback to a time before microtransactions or day 1 DLC. It will kick your butt at first, even on easy. But you have all the tools to beat it, and the freedom to explore all sorts of different builds and different strategies. There are multiple difficulties, unlocks, and achievements, and there are also secrets waiting to be found!
When we ran out of the ability to sustain mankind on the resources of Earth alone, despite how much it cost to send a person to space, it was of course only the wealthy who could afford to stay and live on humanity’s home world.
Everyone is supposed to be equal under Solar Federation Law, but out on the fringes of colonized space equality is anything but equal.
We need you to make a journey to the Core Worlds, all the way to Earth to deliver our message. We need to be heard and you’re our only hope of that happening.
This game is a passion project, and it’s the first game from Scott McClusky (aka Coffee Puck Games.) The concept was to take a game like Escape Velocity with physics-based 2d spaceship gameplay, and combine it with the increased pace and gamepad controls of a game like Geometry Wars. Add in a hefty dose of ship and weapon customization somewhat influenced by MechWarrior and the ability to choose your path akin to Outrun, Darius or Star Fox, and the result is Radio Free Europa.
The game features a fully original soundtrack by Levente Reti (Plus two songs by me!) It brings the action to another level entirely, with a rich variety of fast-paced level tracks, intense boss themes, and some chill tunes to upgrade your ship to between stages.
