Ubisoft has confirmed that New Game Plus is coming to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, as the remake surpasses 3 million copies sold. This milestone comes just one week after the game reached 2 million sales in its first 24 hours, signaling strong performance since its July 9 launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S—despite layoffs affecting some development team members shortly after release.
Unlike previous Assassin's Creed titles where Ubisoft typically shared player numbers rather than sales figures, the publisher has been unusually transparent with Black Flag Resynced's sales data, indicating satisfaction with the game's performance. Whether this openness continues remains uncertain.
To celebrate the 3 million milestone, Ubisoft confirmed that a New Game Plus mode is in development, promising to "further enhance replayability." While specific details remain under wraps, the mode was teased earlier this week by game director Richard Knight in an interview with YouTuber JorRaptor (via GamesRadar). Knight noted that the team is actively working on it, partly because Assassin's Creed Shadows—releasing in 2025—already has its own version, making it a low-risk feature. "It's at the top of the list of things," Knight said, though he couldn't commit to a release date.
IGN awarded Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced a 9/10, calling it "more than just a shinier version" and praising how it brings one of the series' best entries up to modern standards. The game has also stirred controversy over microtransactions, which reportedly earned $1 million on Steam within days.
