The story of Deltarune is far from over, as creator Toby Fox has announced a 2027 release window for Chapter 6. This news comes shortly after the highly anticipated launch of Chapter 5, which shattered the game's previous concurrent player record on Steam within hours. The previous record of 133,920 concurrent players was more than doubled, reaching a new peak of 290,973. Despite being nearly a decade old, Deltarune's popularity continues to grow. In an FAQ on the game's Steam page, Fox confirmed that Chapter 5 is not the end and that Chapter 6 is slated for next year. "We are aiming for a 2027 release," the FAQ states. "Meanwhile, we will be periodically releasing information on the development progress of the game." Fox previously noted that development on Chapter 6 has been smooth, and he hinted that work on Chapter 7 could begin soon. "This sounds crazy, but it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year," Fox said. It remains uncertain how long Deltarune will be supported, but speculation points to a potential conclusion in 2028, the game's 10th anniversary. For now, fans can only wait and see, but it has been a remarkable indie phenomenon to follow. In our review, we gave Deltarune a 9/10, noting that it impresses despite being largely unfinished: "Toby Fox and his team have really accomplished something incredible with Deltarune and its new chapters, even if that accomplishment isn’t quite finished just yet. The fact that what appears to be a halfway point in the story can leave off on such a phenomenal and high-stakes note after roughly 20 hours still has me reeling knowing I’ve yet to see the true depths of where this adventure will lead."
