Fortnite's Kingdom Hearts Crossover Arrives This Week with Sora Skin

Fortnite has finally confirmed the long-rumored Kingdom Hearts collaboration, teasing at least four skins. A short teaser trailer shared on Fortnite's social media shows Sora, the main protagonist of Kingdom Hearts, wielding the iconic Keyblade and striking a pose. Without a doubt, Sora is joining Fortnite as a skin. Accompanying text teasers from developer Epic Games hint that three other Kingdom Hearts characters will also appear: Riku, Kairi, and Roxas. Unfortunately, there's no sign of Mickey Mouse yet—though the thought of him building 90s and holding a shotgun seems far-fetched.

Kingdom Hearts is the latest franchise to join Fortnite during its current video game-themed season, Override, which has already introduced Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, Crash Bandicoot, and Mega Man, among others. Rumors also suggest more additions are on the way, with fans hoping for characters from Persona and Final Fantasy 7.

Override has received a somewhat cooler reception compared to the previous season, Runners, which is considered one of Fortnite's best. Players are divided on whether the Pokémon-like Sprites need to be retired or revamped to stay fresh, and player numbers have dipped slightly from this summer's highs.

As always, Fortnite is gearing up for its annual end-of-year events, with the Halloween-themed Fortnitemares arriving next month. A work-in-progress building on the current battle royale island looks suspiciously like a Five Nights at Freddy's reference, possibly hinting at a tie-in. Whispers also suggest the game will transition into another month-long mini-season in November, with One Piece rumored to be involved.

Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts 4 is in development at Square Enix for PC and consoles, slated for release next year.
