Disney Unveils D23 Kingdom Hearts Panel Details—And With This Lineup, Kingdom Hearts 4 News Seems Imminent

Kingdom Hearts 4 fans might finally get the news they've been waiting for later this week, as Disney has confirmed the lineup for its Kingdom Hearts panel at the D23 fan convention.

The 'DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS' panel will be livestreamed on August 15 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET / August 16 at 12:30 AM UK time. Disney promises a "behind-the-scenes look at the making of the games," but it's the panel's guest list that has fans buzzing with anticipation for what could be Kingdom Hearts 4 announcements.

The panel will feature Nana Gadd from Disney & Pixar Games, Tai Yasue from Square Enix, Haley Joel Osment (the voice of Sora), David Gallagher (the voice of Riku), and Renée Johnson, who handles Disney character voices.

With such a star-studded roster—and Yasue rumored to be co-director of Kingdom Hearts 4—it's hard not to expect some exciting updates on the highly anticipated sequel.

Kingdom Hearts 4 made a surprise appearance at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, offering a first look at gameplay years after its initial announcement. Just as the presentation was winding down, Sora appeared to tease what it's like to wield the Keyblade once more.

In a separate announcement, Square Enix confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 will launch simultaneously on PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

"A new installment in the action role-playing series developed and published by Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts 4 gives fans a look at some of the characters that protagonist Sora will meet in the mysterious city of Quadratum," reads the official description. "Sora will once again journey to realms where new figures cross his path and new powers awaken his next chapter. Kingdom Hearts 4 will be available at launch on Nintendo Switch 2."

Square Enix first unveiled Kingdom Hearts 4 at the franchise's 20th anniversary event back in 2022. At the time, an on-rails gameplay segment depicted Sora battling a skyscraper-sized Heartless in a city unlike the dreamlike Disney worlds fans know and love. Since then, there's been almost no news.

There's still no release date or even a window. Will we finally get both at D23? Only time will tell.
