Jennifer English Exits Tides of Annihilation Role Due to Health Issues

Actress Jennifer English is leaving her role as the protagonist in Eclipse Glow Games' Tides of Annihilation due to health concerns. The developer announced the news on July 17, 2026, just over a year after the game was first revealed at Sony's February 2025 State of Play. In a statement on the game's official X account, Eclipse Glow Games said English will no longer voice the main character, Gwendolyn, for "personal health reasons." However, she will continue to support the project in an advisory role. English informed the studio of her decision in early June. "While we were, of course, saddened by her decision, we completely understood and respected Jennifer in prioritizing her well-being. We are also deeply grateful for the care and responsibility she showed throughout this process," the studio wrote. "During this transition, Jennifer remained incredibly supportive and, together with other members of our voice cast, helped us identify and connect with talented performers who could carry Gwendolyn forward while staying true to the character." Fortunately, a new voice actress for Gwendolyn has been found, recommended by English and other cast members. Eclipse Glow Games says her recent work "left a strong impression on both Jennifer and our team—not only for the performance itself, but for the remarkable care and dedication she showed in understanding the character." Fans will first hear the new actor in Tides of Annihilation's playable demo at Gamescom 2026 in August, which she is currently recording. Her voice will also appear in "select official updates" around that time. The studio added, "We'd also like to thank Jennifer for everything she brought to the character and to the project. Her performance brought depth, strength, vulnerability, and heart to the role. We have truly enjoyed this journey together, and wish Jennifer all the very best, and most importantly, good health and happiness in whatever comes next." Tides of Annihilation is a narrative-driven, single-player action adventure game set in a modern-day London plunged into chaos by magical forces inspired by Arthurian legends. Players control Gwendolyn, who must defeat these forces with help from spectral versions of the Knights of the Round Table. Eclipse Glow Games, based in Chengdu, China, has released several trailers for the game, showcasing cinematics, boss fights, and behind-the-scenes development footage. The release date has not yet been announced.
