New footage from Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has revealed a hot springs feature that boosts the party's health and grants them a set of new bathing suit skins.
Half the fun of Square Enix's remake trilogy is letting Cloud, Barret, Tifa, and the rest of the crew enjoy themselves on their journey to stop Sephiroth once and for all. In Rebirth, that meant a day at the beach, and in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, players will be able to relax, socialize, and, for some reason, balance rubber Chocobos at a collection of new hot springs.
The publisher unveiled this new gameplay feature during SDCC Málaga and later shared gameplay footage on social media. When the group stops at a hot spring, they'll receive a permanent increase to their max HP. The health bonus and the moments shared between characters seem to be the main draw. However, what might appeal to some players more than others is the promise that the bathing suit outfits featured in these segments can be unlocked as skins.
【Hot Spring Tour🐤】Take a breather between adventures. Hot spring spots are hidden on the world map of #FF7Revelation ♨ You can enjoy special conversations with your travel companions that you won't hear anywhere else. You can also gain max HP boosts and costume skins. https://t.co/S41hqabFqp
Across all the clips shown online today, we can see skins for Cloud, Barret, and Cid. Red XIII can also relax in the hot springs, but since he doesn't usually wear clothes to begin with, any skin he gets likely won't change his appearance much. Then there's newly playable party member Vincent Valentine, who prefers to bathe in the same sleek outfit he fights monsters in because he's… just that cool, I guess.
"We’re sharing a preview of some of the hot spring events revealed during our stage presentation at SDCC Málaga," director Naoki Hamaguchi said in a follow-up post on X/Twitter. "Each hot spring offers a different glimpse into the characters’ everyday lives, and the outfits featured in these events can also be unlocked as skins. Explore the world, discover hot springs, and enjoy these special moments with your companions!"
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is still months away from delivering the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, but that hasn't stopped Square Enix from unloading new details as often as it can. Hamaguchi has been especially eager to share, telling IGN last month that players will have an option to automatically level up their characters if they want to skip the grind. He's also said players could easily spend more than 100 hours playing through the story, even if the Platinum Trophy doesn't present much of a challenge on its own.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on April 8, 2027. While we wait to see how those hot springs heat things up for Cloud and company, you can see how Hamaguchi responded to players hoping for a full-disc release.
