Control Resonant has reached one million copies sold, making it Remedy's fastest-selling game ever, despite leakers cracking and pirating the title after its digital launch in September.

Remedy marked the milestone on October 15 with a post on Twitter/X: "Thank you for the support. For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community."

Thomas Puha, Remedy's communications director, also weighed in: "There we go. Strong start."

There we go. Strong start.

This means Control Resonant has sped past Alan Wake 2, which previously held the record for the studio's fastest-selling title. The legacy sequel hit one million copies sold two months after release; Control Resonant achieved the same feat in just three weeks.

This is welcome news for both Remedy and fans of the game, many of whom urged players not to download the pirated version when it launched digitally in late September. It seems the piracy wasn't a crippling setback for the developer, given its current financial success — and physical editions have just been released, so there's still more profit to be made.

Control Resonant received critical acclaim from reviewers and players alike. We at IGN scored it an 8 out of 10, with reviewer Michael Higham saying, "Even when combat's sharp edge eventually dulls, Control Resonant is a great addition to the Remedyverse. While its story follows a more standard framework, its gravitational pull is in the inventive world built around it and the humanization that grounds the paranatural intrigue."

In fact, the game was so good that many internet pirates chose not to illegally download it, opting instead to support Remedy in hopes that its success would keep the studio alive.

"One of the very few games I'm going to be buying, Remedy are on the brink of bankruptcy, this is their make or break title, I love their games and gotta do what I can to keep them afloat," wrote one fan on a piracy subreddit.

"I wasn't planning to buy it but now I feel like I should," another said. "I like Remedy. They do good games."

Remedy is known for titles like the original Control, Alan Wake 2, Max Payne, and Quantum Break. And while their offerings have been met with high praise from players, they aren't necessarily tailored for mass appeal, leaving some gamers worried about the developer's future — but if these latest figures are anything to go by, it seems to be faring just fine.
