It's been a massive day for GTA 6 news, as Rockstar dropped fresh details on what's arguably the most anticipated game ever, just as preorders go live. IGN has you covered with in-depth coverage, but here's a roundup of everything announced and confirmed, including new screenshots, first details on editions, and even a new (very short) in-game video.
Rockstar has confirmed the GTA 6 price is $79.99 for the base game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Ultimate Edition (more on that soon) costs $99.99. This marks a jump from the $70 standard this gen, potentially opening the floodgates for more $80 games.
GTA 6 preorders go live at midnight local time on June 25. You can put your money down from then.
Rockstar has said GTA 6 is a single-player game, suggesting any new version of GTA Online will miss the November launch.
The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition includes an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action woven into Jason and Lucia's story, available for $99.99. More on what you get here.
All GTA 6 preorders and purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack—a collection of items that "flash back to when the neon burned brightest," Rockstar said, plus a free month of GTA+ for digital preorders. More on the pack here.
Players who pre-order digital versions can start pre-loading on November 12, 2026, ensuring they can play at launch on November 19, 2026.
The physical version of GTA 6 only includes a download code inside the box, shocking some fans and leading others to call it the final nail in the coffin for game discs. The physical version will be available from November 12, 2026 to support pre-loading, Rockstar said.
Rockstar released over 60 new screenshots showcasing GTA 6, its characters, world, and retro Vice City vibes. Check them out here.
As with the preorder date announcement, today's news includes a new short video embedded on the GTA 6 website, offering a fresh look at the actual game. We see Jason and Lucia by a car near a sandy beach, ready for action.
Sony has a partnership with Rockstar for GTA 6 and today announced some PS5-exclusive features. Sony said that "thanks to the close partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19." There are DualSense exclusive features and talk of "near instant" loading times thanks to the PS5's "ultra-high speed" SSD. More here.
We still don't know the GTA 6 file size, nor how the game will perform on consoles in terms of framerate and resolution. How will GTA 6 run on the PS5 Pro, for example?
