Minecraft Heading to Nintendo Switch 2 with Upgrade Option for Current Owners

Minecraft is set to receive a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 release soon, and those who already own the game on Switch 1 will have a path to upgrade.

Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27th. While the game has been playable on the new console via backward compatibility, this native version will bring enhanced visuals and performance. The Switch 2 edition will feature the Vibrant Visuals graphics option by default, offering improved lighting, shadows, and other graphical enhancements that make the game look more modern and appealing.

Additionally, the Nintendo-exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up will also be updated to support Vibrant Visuals. For current Switch 1 owners, Mojang has promised an upgrade path, though the wording hints that it may not be free, leaving some ambiguity.

Regardless, this adds another title to the Switch 2 library. Minecraft remains a powerhouse in the gaming industry, largely due to its availability across nearly every modern platform.
