A talented Starfield modder is working to fix one of the game's most criticized features: the disjointed take-off and flight sequences. While Starfield has its fans, the Bethesda space RPG has long been plagued by loading screens that break the immersion, especially when leaving or entering a planet's atmosphere. These technical limitations stem from the game's engine, though Bethesda has improved spaceflight by allowing players to fly between planets in the same solar system. Still, fans crave a seamless experience like No Man's Sky, where you can take off, travel through space, and land without a single loading screen. The Seamless Planet Takeoffs mod, created by 0xBobby, aims to deliver just that for take-offs. It removes the loading screen and spawns your ship above the landing site, using a first-person cockpit view to disguise the transition. However, 0xBobby admits that seamless landings are far more complex and unlikely: 'It probably won't ever happen, at least not from me. I know the tricks, but they don't appeal to me—if I want seamless landings, I want the full No Man's Sky style, and the chances are pretty much zero.' Meanwhile, Bethesda has reassured fans that Starfield remains a priority, with the Starborn DLC now slated for 2027. Despite layoffs and slower-than-expected updates, Bethesda's Todd Howard emphasized that Starfield 'continues' with over 17 million players and plans for new stories and improvements. Until a potential Starfield 2 with built-in seamless travel arrives, modders are doing their best to bridge the gap.
