Rockstar has ramped up its GTA 6 marketing with the release of several new screenshots focusing on protagonists Lucia and Jason.
The dynamic criminal duo appears in four new images published via Love Magazine, which features an illustration of the couple on its cover, and a black-and-white screenshot of the pair in more casual clothes (Jason in a white vest, muscular arms on display, Lucia in a leopard-print crop top).
Two more images show Lucia and Jason together in a diner booth, but sitting opposite each other. Is this the setting of a heist planning session, or are the two about to rob the very diner they're sitting in? Are they on a date, or arguing about how their criminal activities are going? A large bag that looks like it's meant to be filled with stolen money suggests something is about to happen.
LOVE magazine shares new GTA 6 details and screenshots on Instagram: - Lucia and Jason are portrayed as opposites: Lucia actively makes her own decisions, while Jason’s circumstances often make decisions for him - Rockstar wants both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed,… pic.twitter.com/juvx1RQmKz
Next are images of Lucia and Jason in more stylish clothes (well, Jason is in bike leathers), looking fierce while playing pool in what appears to be a biker bar.
The article also includes further detail from Rockstar senior vice president of narrative, Rupert Humphries, who discussed the pair's pursuit of the American Dream. GTA 6 portrays this as the couple seeking the ability to own a house and pay off their various debts, rather than a desire to become billionaires. “If you are going to put all this effort into creating a version of today’s world, it has to be more over the top, more insane, more in your face,” Humphries said. “Otherwise, you could just go outside and live in the real world.”
"We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other,” game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern told Love. “That’s what we felt made them authentic, and a great team.” Game writer Alexa D’Agostino added: “When you are focusing on writing a fully realised person with their own wants, you’re going to get something perfectly imperfect — with clichés, but also undeniably real.”
Speaking of GTA 6 marketing ramping up, The Miami Heat announced it would be heading to Vice City for its next NBA match against the Milwaukee Bucks. The one-night-only event, hosted live on ESPN, has been dubbed A Night in Vice City, and will see the home team donning an "all-new uniform on a never-before-seen court."
