A pre-release version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for PC has reportedly surfaced online, seemingly due to a Steam pre-load glitch. According to reports, an unencrypted copy of the game became temporarily accessible when Steam opened pre-loading ahead of its official PC launch on March 19. Although the exact duration of the leak remains unclear, it was sufficient for some users to download the 113GB files, bypass Steam's DRM, and upload the full game to piracy platforms. PC Gamer notes that the pirated version lacks certain language packs, such as Russian. Distributing or playing this unauthorized copy carries risks, including potential sanctions and the inability to access the game's extensive online features.
In related news, IGN recently detailed an upcoming update for Death Stranding 2, which will introduce a new hard difficulty mode named To The Wilder, replayable boss fights (including Neil), additional items, and live-action cutscenes. The update will also support 21:9 ultrawide mode on both PS5 and PC, along with gameplay tweaks based on player feedback, new nightmares for Sam, and a new Chiral Cat for his room. For PC players, the version will offer uncapped framerates, ultrawide monitor support, and 32:9 super ultrawidescreen options, all in 4K resolution.
In IGN's review, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was praised as a 'triumphant sequel' that fulfills the promise of its predecessor, earning an 'Amazing' score of 9/10.
