Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto has revealed that Konami is targeting annual releases for new entries in its iconic horror series. In an interview with Gamesradar at Gamescom 2026, Okamoto explained that the company is seeking fresh interpretations of the franchise's familiar themes to prevent stagnation.

"Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games," he said. "If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase."

Okamoto also confirmed that multiple unannounced Silent Hill projects are in the pipeline. "There are still many projects that are still [in] the works and very unannounced titles. So obviously, we can't go into specifics. But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak," he stated. He added, "We would like to let players know that we have more experiences coming up, and many types of games that, we believe, will be able to provide positive kinds of surprises for players waiting for this for the series."

These comments align with statements from Konami's president, Hideki Hayakawa, who said the company is actively investing in "rebooting" its most iconic IPs, specifically mentioning Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Castlevania. In an interview with Nikkei Gaming on July 23, Hayakawa explained, "Our company has been making games for more than 50 years, and we hold several IPs that are beloved globally by many fans. We concluded that rebooting these properties would be an effective way to make the most of them. In addition to Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Momotaro Dentetsu, we are also actively developing Castlevania (known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula)." He added, "Our basic philosophy is that as long as there are customers for a given game, we will release it across multiple devices. Rather than focusing intensely on just one specific IP, we’ve built a structure that allows us to push forward on multiple IPs simultaneously with equal energy. That’s what this past year has looked like for us."

Silent Hill has seen a resurgence with the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, alongside the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall, set to release on September 22. Silent Hill f, in particular, aligns with Konami's goals by shifting from the series' usual American setting to 1960s Japan.
