Resident Evil Director Zach Cregger Reveals His Ideal Lady Dimitrescu Casting Choice

Zach Cregger, the director of the upcoming Resident Evil movie, has shared his pick for who should play Lady Dimitrescu in a live-action adaptation — and we think it's spot on.

To set the record straight, the towering Lady D from 2021's Resident Evil Village won't be in Cregger's film, as it tells an original story. So don't expect to see her or other beloved characters on the big screen. However, Cregger is a huge Resident Evil fan and clearly has a strong idea of who he'd cast if he had the chance.

"Christina Hendricks," Cregger told Pedestrian.TV when asked about his choice for Lady D. "That feels about right to me. What do you think?" Personally, we couldn't agree more.

The vampiric Lady Dimitrescu captured the hearts of many Resident Evil fans when Village launched, with players drawn to her imposing height and femme fatale allure. Fan art flooded the internet, some more risqué than others, and Capcom capitalized on her popularity by releasing life-size cardboard cutouts of the character in game stores.

Although Lady D hasn't returned to the series yet, she remains a fan favorite — and notably, her costume was unlockable in this year's Resident Evil Requiem if you purchased the Deluxe Edition.

Could we see the character in a future Resident Evil film? While Cregger has faced some criticism from fans for choosing to create an original story, early buzz for the movie has been positive, and box office projections are strong. In fact, Cregger has already mentioned he has ideas for potential sequels. Here's hoping Christina Hendricks is available.
