Forza Horizon 6 Community Reaches Breaking Point, Playground Games Finally Breaks Silence

After months of constructive feedback met with silence, Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games has finally responded to its frustrated player base. The British studio posted a message on its social channels: "Hey Horizon Community, We're reading all your comments about Forza Horizon 6, and we realize that we haven't been talking with you as much as we could be. While we continue to deliver regular content and fixes into the game, we want you to know we hear your feedback about our post-launch updates and we're looking into future changes to both in-game content and the ways we communicate with you. Stay tuned!"

Forza Horizon 6 received critical acclaim at launch, including a 10/10 from IGN, but Playground's lack of communication has soured the community. Content creators like STEVIO2175, AR12Gaming, HokiHoshi, and Ericship 111 have highlighted player frustrations: the live-service game's near-total silence from the developer, missing features from previous Forza titles, and the feeling that engagement is nonexistent. In a detailed 19-minute video from late August, STEVIO2175 said, "It just feels like the community engagement between the developers and us is just nonexistent." Players also feel forced into Horizon Festival playlists to unlock new cars—many recycled from older games—rather than enjoying the modes they prefer.

Playground's community-facing Forza Monthly show has also been absent, leading some to speculate it's a consequence of new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's "reset" and subsequent layoffs. Another point of contention: Forza Horizon 6 lacks in-game voice chat, even though 2023's Forza Motorsport still has it. "Voice chat alone could make FH6 Japan ten times better," STEVIO2175 said. "But the thing that bothers me most at the end of the day is that the devs have not responded at all. No communication, no public responses, nothing."

STEVIO2175 also believes most players see little replayability beyond single-player. "Until the socialization and community features get added, if they ever do, player interest is going to continue to drop," he said. "And I hope they figure this all out before PS5 hopefully still gets this game."

Speaking of which, Microsoft and Playground still haven't announced a release date for the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6, despite earlier claims it would launch this year. With October here and no date in sight, a 2025 PS5 launch looks increasingly unlikely—perhaps for the best, as Playground needs to address communication and content roadmap issues before expanding to another platform.

Meanwhile, a second Playground team is in the final stretch on the Fable reboot, slated for Xbox, PC, and PS5 on February 23, 2027. It's fair to wonder if Fable's development has pulled resources from Forza Horizon 6. We got hands-on with Fable at Gamescom in August and were quite impressed by its combat.
