Rockstar's parent company Take-Two has confirmed that the November 19 release date for GTA 6 remains unchanged, and has expressed confidence that the upcoming 'Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look' will enhance "consumers' passion and anticipation" for the game.

In reporting what it described as "excellent" results for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2027, Take-Two highlighted that the Grand Theft Auto series "once again exceeded expectations," with GTA 5 surpassing 230 million copies sold worldwide and the series seeing a 3% increase in microtransactions. GTA 5 is now the second best-selling video game in history, trailing only Minecraft's 400 million units.

Take-Two's financial statement noted that "global excitement for the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to build, with the title having an exceptional start to preorders." While specific preorder numbers were not disclosed, recent analyses estimate that GTA 6 generated roughly $180 million in digital preorders across the U.S. and five major European markets in the last week of June, following the preorder launch on June 25. Total quarterly revenue reached $1.39 billion, slightly above Take-Two's forecast of $1.32-$1.37 billion.

Take-Two also addressed the recent announcement that the next official GTA 6 reveal, titled 'Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look,' will be streamed exclusively on Netflix for six hours starting August 27. The company stated, "With Rockstar Games' recent announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look coming on August 27th, we believe that consumers' passion and anticipation for the next evolution of this iconic series will grow further leading up to the title's November 19th release."

Another highlight in Take-Two's Q1 results was NBA 2K, which saw a 7% increase in Recurrent Consumer Spending (RCS). NBA 2K26's performance was "outstanding and concluded a record year for the franchise," with over 12 million units sold-in, reflecting 9% growth compared to NBA 2K25. Take-Two praised Visual Concepts for their innovative engagement strategies, noting that live-service execution remains key to NBA 2K's success. NBA 2K27 is slated for release this September.

Take-Two also mentioned ongoing support for Borderlands 4, Sid Meier's Civilization VII, and WWE 2K26, which have "enhanced player engagement and sentiment," though no specific figures were provided.

Looking ahead, Take-Two emphasized that the current fiscal year will be an "inflection point" for the company, "one that will write an exciting new chapter in our history and provide the foundation for new levels of success and the creation of groundbreaking entertainment experiences." The company reiterated its revenue projection of $8-$8.2 billion for the year, representing approximately 20% growth over FY26, with GTA 6 expected to be a major driver. Revenue is anticipated to be split roughly 37% from Rockstar Games, 34% from Zynga, and 29% from 2K. Other upcoming titles without confirmed release dates include PGA Tour 2K27, WWE 2K27, Judas, Project Ethos, and the next BioShock.
