The Witcher 3 Remastered: Your Saves Carry Over, and Achievements/Trophies Will Too

Good news for fans of The Witcher 3: CD Projekt has confirmed that your existing save files will be compatible with the upcoming Remastered edition, and they've also clarified how achievements and trophies will be handled.

In a recent post on X/Twitter, the studio addressed common fan questions about the new edition, which will be free for all existing owners. This includes Nintendo Switch players who upgrade to the Remastered version on Switch 2. CD Projekt assured players, "Your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can pick up right where you left off." This is a relief for those who haven't yet explored everything the game has to offer—and there's plenty to see.

Remember, the base game now includes both expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. You'll want to complete those before the long-awaited third expansion, Songs of the Past, arrives in 2027.

Achievement and trophy hunters will also be pleased: any progress toward awards you've already unlocked will carry over and continue in the Remastered edition. This might be expected if the upgrade is treated as a simple update on supported platforms, but it's nice to have official confirmation.

CD Projekt Red unveiled The Witcher 3 Remastered last week, boasting a host of new features and technical improvements, including cross-platform mod support (finally!), new quest tracking, immersive meditation, refined animations, UI enhancements, a reworked looting system, and much more. The Remastered version launches on September 29 and will become the game's default offering, though there's been a slight price increase—likely reflecting the inclusion of the expansions.
