Battlefield 6 is facing backlash from fans after its latest battle pass introduced new character skins with glaring design issues.
The most obvious offender is a soldier sporting a Batman-like mask—minus the ears—with five pistols strapped to the chest pockets of his tactical vest. This seems to be for those moments when you absolutely, positively need to channel your inner Shiva against enemies. "Because switching to your pistol, secondary pistol, tertiary pistol, quartenary (sic) pistol, and quinary pistol is faster than reloading, soldier!" one Reddit user quipped.
💀 BRO IS CARRYING 5 PISTOLS! WHO APPROVED THIS SKIN? 😭#Battlefield6 https://t.co/b6o94OkV1o
But illogical pistol placement isn't the only thing raising eyebrows. Many fans suspect some skins were generated using AI, pointing to odd spelling mistakes and inconsistencies. One skin features a patch that reads "secuty" instead of "security."
Secuty 😭 It's AI #Battlefield6 https://t.co/8DVphghCSU
"I believe it's almost impossible to deny anymore that EA/DICE is using AI for the skins in #Battlefield6," one X/Twitter user stated. "At least in the concept phase—and then anything that looks even remotely 'cool' just gets rubber-stamped."
IGN has reached out to EA for comment.
Another skin showcases a bomb disposal juggernaut with heavy body armor but a completely exposed head, resembling a cheeky turtle poking out of its shell. Not ideal when shrapnel starts flying. To make matters worse, he's carrying magazines for small game hunting rifles that don't even exist in Battlefield 6.
"Fps .22s probably take like 2 full mags to kill someone," one X/Twitter user remarked. "Not to mention he's carrying super finicky mags for a .22 varmint rifle," another joked.
While these skin issues could stem from human error, fans aren't giving DICE the benefit of the doubt. Given that AI is a hot-button topic in gaming—and with companies like Fortnite developer Epic Games fully embracing generative AI—there's intense scrutiny and skepticism around game assets with clear mistakes, especially when they cost money.
Additionally, fans feel misled by the inclusion of more outlandish cosmetics. Alongside a reactive weapon skin, there are crossover items with other EA franchises, letting Battlefield 6 players cosplay as Dead Space characters. These arrive ahead of the Battlefield 6 Dead Space event.
It's not quite Nicki Minaj, but these skins contradict what developers said before launch. DICE had publicly stated that Battlefield 6 wouldn't feature goofy, immersion-breaking skins.
