Developers of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced have confirmed a host of returning features for Ubisoft's pirate remake, including whaling, bell diving, legendary ships, and bar games, along with new additions like autopilot for your ship. The details emerged from a recent Reddit AMA with creative director Paul Fu and game director Richard Knight.

When asked if all side activities from the original Black Flag would return—such as whale and shark hunting and bell diving—Fu confirmed they will "all be available." Bar games, including Checkers, are also back as in the original.

Black Flag's elite Legendary Ships will return, and Knight described them as "as brutal as ever to fight," with more details coming in a naval deep dive later in May.

Knight also confirmed that Kenway's Fleet, the mobile management minigame from the original, is now fully integrated into Black Flag Resynced. It can be accessed via the Hideout or Captain's Cabin, with no phone required.

Regarding online events like white whale appearances, Knight noted that such events are now built into the game, but online content exists in the form of Anomalies, previously seen in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

A notable new feature is autopilot for the Jackdaw. Knight explained that the ship now supports auto-travel, similar to the series' horseback autopilot, allowing players to set a course without manual control. However, Edward must remain at the wheel, as attacks can happen anytime.

On combat, Fu said dual swords are Edward's main weapons, with the Hidden Blade used for fatal, contextual takedowns when breaking an opponent's defense—making it a key part of combat, unlike the original.

Other confirmed features include social stealth mechanics, remappable controls, the classic Wanted System (with Pirate Hunters stalking you at high wanted levels), and all original costumes.

After years of leaks, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to launch on July 9 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a $200 Collector's Edition that includes the Edward Kenway statue previously spotted on Vinted.
