Assassin's Creed Valhalla released back in November 2020, and now Ubisoft has announced that the game will receive a New Game+ mode. In a blog post outlining future plans for the Assassin's Creed franchise, Ubisoft provided a small but cryptic update on Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe, and also revealed that Valhalla will get a New Game+ mode a mere six years after its initial console release.
The new mode is set to arrive on November 5 and will include an optional progression system, along with new runes, achievements, and a stash system. Additionally, Ubisoft will introduce a new crafting material called Mithril, which can be used to upgrade divine gear.
Beyond the NG+ mode, Ubisoft teased that Valhalla will receive even more updates. The post states that the company will "share full details in the upcoming Patch Notes, along with news regarding current-generation console updates in the coming days." It's unclear what Ubisoft means by 'current-generation console updates,' but a graphical enhancement seems likely.
While Valhalla does have PS5 and Xbox Series versions, the game hasn't received a PS5 Pro Enhanced update, so that's probably what Ubisoft is referring to. But even without the Pro, in the years since Valhalla's release, all consoles have been updated with better upscaling, whether that's QSSR on the base PS5 or FSR 4.1 on the Xbox Series consoles.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla was well received at launch. In IGN's review, we gave it an 8, with reviewer Brandin Tyrrel saying, "Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a massive, beautiful open-world fueled by brutal living and the dirty work of conquerors. It's a lot buggier than it should be but also impressive on multiple levels."
The new game+ mode isn't the first time Ubisoft has been slow to update Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Players also had to wait nearly two years for Steam achievements, and the company was still fixing bugs as late as January 2025.
