PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset Now Up for Preorder at $99, Launches Same Day as GTA 6

Attention, PS5 owners: the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is now available for preorder. You can snag it at most major retailers for $99 (check it out at Amazon), and it's set to release on November 19. That's also the same day Grand Theft Auto VI comes out. Coincidence? We can't say for sure, but if you're planning late-night GTA 6 marathons and don't want to disturb your roommates, a new pair of wireless headphones for your PS5 definitely won't hurt.

The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is designed for PS5 (naturally), featuring both PlayStation Link connectivity and Bluetooth, so it works with other devices too. It also supports simultaneous connectivity, letting you switch instantly between, say, your PS5 and your phone. It comes in white or Midnight Black color schemes.

Sony boasts Tempest 3D audio support, which delivers immersive sound that seems to come from all around you. The headset uses planar magnetic drivers, which are supposed to produce "lifelike sound." Built-in microphones let you use in-game chat or talk on your phone, and it has "AI-enhanced noise rejection" for clearer communication no matter what background noise is present.

The earcups can be turned to flatten the headset, making it easier to pack in a bag for on-the-go use. Basically, it's a new Sony headset that should work excellently and seamlessly on the PS5. And it launches the same day as GTA 6, giving you a great opportunity to try it out.

This new headset effectively replaces the Pulse 3D Wireless headset, which we gave a 9/10 in our review. Here's hoping this new model is even better. I certainly prefer the look of the new one over the old one.

It's also worth noting that Sony will release the higher-end PlayStation Pulse Edge Wireless Headset, announced at the same time as this one, sometime early next year. It will feature active noise cancellation but will cost more. The exact price and release date have yet to be announced.
