Blizzard is marking Diablo's 30th anniversary by introducing the Warlock class to several games in the series, including Diablo 2: Resurrected, over a quarter-century after the original game's debut. The 2021 remaster, Diablo 2: Resurrected, receives the Reign of the Warlock DLC today, February 11, priced at $24.99 on PC, PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. This paid expansion is already live on Battle.net and Steam, where the game has also launched.

The announcement came during Blizzard's Diablo Anniversary Spotlight event, which highlighted Warlock-themed updates across the franchise. A Warlock class will join Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred on April 28 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a free-to-play version arriving in Diablo Immortal this summer.

However, the addition to Diablo 2: Resurrected is particularly surprising, as the class was never part of the original game. Starting today, players can summon demons like the Goatman, Tainted, and Defiler, then bind or even consume them to absorb their lifeforce for temporary boosts and abilities.

Today's update also introduces enhanced Terror Zones, where players can earn consumables and select which acts are terrorized. On Hell difficulty, they'll face Heralds of Terror enemies and can uncover five mystical statues to unlock an uber boss, the Colossal Ancients, described by Blizzard as "the next evolution of endgame battles."

Additionally, quality-of-life improvements are included, such as built-in loot filters, enhanced stash tabs with stacking capabilities, and a Chronicle feature to track collected items.

Blizzard released Diablo 2: Resurrected over five years ago for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. In IGN's review, the game scored 7/10, praised for updating the classic's graphics but noted for overlooking some long-standing flaws.
