Blumhouse Teams Up with MatPat for Amanda the Adventurer Film, Teases More Indie Horror Adaptations | NYCC 2026

Blumhouse Productions is joining forces with YouTube sensation Matthew 'MatPat' Patrick to produce a series of films based on popular indie horror games, starting with Amanda the Adventurer.

The collaboration was revealed at New York Comic Con 2026, where representatives from Blumhouse and MatPat shared that the YouTuber has 'a few projects in the works' with the studio.

'I'm thrilled to announce that I'm partnering with Blumhouse to bring some new movies to life. I'm taking some of my favorite indie games and horror channels from the internet and working with Blumhouse to adapt them for the big screen,' MatPat said during the panel.

The first project is Amanda the Adventurer, a first-person puzzle horror game where players uncover a disturbing mystery tied to a low-budget animated children's show of the same name.

MatPat revealed that he and Blumhouse are already in discussions with writers and directors, and they're 'moving quickly' to get the film made.

'It's horror with heart. Amanda is a terrifying yet tragic figure. It raises the question: Can you trust the media your kids are consuming?' he explained.

This news follows other YouTuber-driven film projects, such as Sean 'Jacksepticeye' McLoughlin's upcoming animated Bloodborne movie. Earlier this year, Mark 'Markiplier' Fischbach impressed audiences with his self-funded horror film Iron Lung, based on the indie game of the same name.

Indie horror games have long had a dedicated online following, and major studios are finally taking notice—especially after the success of Kane Parson's Backrooms earlier this year. The film's popularity led to a wave of greenlit creepypasta adaptations, including The Mandela Catalogue, Siren Head, and even The SCP Foundation.

Given Amanda the Adventurer's viral success, speculation is already swirling about what MatPat and Blumhouse might tackle next. A glance at CoryxKenshin's YouTube channel hints at a possible Puppet Combo movie—could Nun Massacre be headed to theaters?
