Bungie has officially introduced LUX, the premium currency for its upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, with a firm guarantee that it won't be used to purchase any gameplay advantages.
In a recent tweet from the official Marathon account, the studio reaffirmed that all seasonal gameplay content—including new zones and Runner shells (the game's playable characters)—will be available for free to every player. "There is no pay for power," Bungie emphasized, clarifying that Premium Pass rewards are strictly cosmetic and that LUX can only be spent on cosmetic items, "not gameplay advantages."
Additionally, Bungie confirmed that Reward Passes do not expire, allowing players to purchase passes from previous seasons. Rewards within these passes are unlocked using Silk, a currency earned solely through gameplay that cannot be bought with real money. Cosmetics can also be obtained via the Codex system, with some available for direct purchase.
This announcement about Marathon's premium currency comes just hours before the game's launch (check out the Marathon release times here for details).
