Details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's Season 1 have been unveiled, and a wealth of new content is on the way. Activision has confirmed that players can look forward to six new maps, including the return of Shoot House, along with new weapons, modes, events, and an expansion to the game's extraction mode, DMZ.

Following the release of Shipment this week, Season 1 will launch with three maps on November 6. The maps will feature varying weather conditions: one called Backstab is set in a snowy village, while another named Canyon takes place in a scorching desert. Shoot House has been reimagined to fit the game's Korean setting, but the overall layout that fans know and love remains intact. The map was originally introduced in Modern Warfare (2019) and has been a fan favorite ever since for its tight design and powerful sightlines. Three additional maps will be added throughout the season.

Season 1 will also introduce a variety of new weapons, including a tomahawk and weapons clearly inspired by the FMG9 and AA-12 from classic Modern Warfare titles. A gun known as the Cronen Osprey also appears to draw inspiration from the CX9 from Modern Warfare (2019) or the Scorpion Evo from Black Ops 2. There will also be new attachments, including a burst attachment for the M4 that transforms it into an M16.

For DMZ fans, a whole new area of the map has been unlocked, known as X01. It's an eerie enclosed facility that players can explore in detail to find high-quality loot, but the trade-off is that great threats lurk inside. Activision describes the location as a dimly lit "labyrinth" of tunnels and passageways, so don't be surprised if you get lost or disoriented—just make sure you can get out in time for extraction. You can also expect new bosses, FOB upgrades, and loot.

A number of classic Call of Duty modes such as Infection, Grind, and Drop Zone are also returning in Season 1. And of course, there will be a battle pass with plenty of skins and unlocks. Currently, it looks like there's nothing too outlandish, so don't expect any Nicki Minaj or Beavis and Butthead skins. It seems Modern Warfare 4 will retain its grounded aesthetic, at least within Season 1. The team had previously promised to avoid over-the-top skins, and so far they're making good on that promise.
