Edgerunners, the wildly popular Netflix anime set in CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 universe, masterfully captures the essence of the game and translates it into stunning animation. The recently released Season 2 delivered its own narrative—set just a year after the main game's events, in 2078 (more on that later)—and wrapped up neatly. But hold on! Was that a hint at V appearing in the show? And if so, does that imply CD Projekt has a canon ending for Cyberpunk 2077 that serves as the launchpad for all post-game spinoffs like Edgerunners 2?
At the Lucca Comics and Games festival, we had the chance to ask Edgerunners writer, producer, and showrunner Bartosz Sztybor about all this. He did his best to answer without spoiling too much of the game. And while we're on the subject of spoilers, what about Season 3?
The Cyberpunk universe is set to expand even more, of course, with the in-development Cyberpunk 2 (setting and timeframe yet to be announced). There's also a live-action film in the works, though according to CD Projekt, the Cyberpunk 2077 movie won't simply retrace the game's steps.
