Elden Ring: Nightreign Community Eagerly Awaits New Content or the Arrival of Everdark Heolstor

It has been three months since Elden Ring: Nightreign launched its paid Forsaken Hollows DLC, introducing two new Nightfarers, a fresh map, two final bosses, and a host of additional enemies and events. Players are growing increasingly restless, questioning when—or if—another major update will arrive, or at least when they might finally encounter Everdark Heolstor.

This week, several trending Reddit threads have voiced frustration over the lack of updates or any news from FromSoftware regarding Nightreign since Forsaken Hollows. As user u/Chance_Drive_5906 stated, 'It's been three months since the DLC dropped, the last content we got. It seems likely we won't see more, and Fromsoft has moved on. The last patch was almost two months ago, so even balance updates might be done.' The comments are filled with players hoping for anything new: a budget DLC with a Nightfarer, weapons, or a boss—just something to keep the game fresh.

What players crave most is Everdark Heolstor. Heolstor, also known as the Nightlord, serves as the main final boss in Nightreign. While you can fight him normally, there's no Everdark version available. Everdark variants are enhanced versions of existing bosses that appear in sets of three, rotating every few weeks. For example, today marks the last chance to battle the Everdark forms of Gnoster, Caligo, and Libra, with new ones arriving tomorrow. These bosses offer superior rewards but are significantly tougher, featuring extra phases and more punishing attacks. Currently, only Heolstor and the Dreglord, the final boss from Forsaken Hollows, lack Everdark forms, sparking fan speculation that they might be added later. One enthusiast was so eager for Everdark Heolstor that they even made a request at an AEW show.

Beyond Everdark Heolstor, many fans are simply hoping for any hint that more Nightreign content is in development. Nightreign stands out as a premium-priced, cooperative game designed for long-term play, unlike many AAA titles that rely on frequent updates and microtransactions. This approach likely creates a healthier experience, but it can lead to repetitiveness over time, even with the Deep of Night mode, which provides an endless challenge with escalating difficulty and rewards.

The most recent update for Elden Ring: Nightreign was on January 15, but it was merely a balance patch. In the patch notes, Bandai Namco included the line, 'Further updates will be distributed in the future for you to continue to enjoy ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN more comfortably.' Some fans are holding onto this statement as a sign of more to come, though it may just be a commitment to ongoing patches.

Will Nightreign receive another content update? Only FromSoftware and Bandai Namco know for sure. The game could certainly benefit from new Nightfarers, bosses, and maps. However, given Nightreign's experimental nature, it wouldn't be surprising if FromSoftware shifted focus to its next multiplayer project, Duskbloods.

On a personal note, I'd be content with more outfits to spend Murk on. How about a Ranni outfit for the Recluse, please?
